The State of Missouri is seeking applicants for a position in the Operator Certification
Section located in Jefferson City, Missouri. This position will be filled as a Water
Specialist III. It is preferred that applicants have a current Missouri “A” level wastewater
treatment certificate of competency and accompanying wastewater treatment
experience. Drinking water treatment operators with comparable certification and
experience will be considered.
Water Specialist III – Requirements
• Possession of a current Missouri class “A” certificate of competency for
wastewater treatment or drinking water treatment.
• Four years of in-plant actual operating experience in the operation and
maintenance
(O & M) of a wastewater treatment plant or public drinking water treatment
system including two years at a system classified by the department as a level
“A,” “B,” or “C” or equivalent.
• High school diploma or GED.
This position serves as a Certification Specialist in the Operator Certification Section.
Major job duties include:
• Review exam statistics and coordinate with subject matter experts to develop
and maintain operator certification examinations for drinking water treatment,
drinking water distribution, wastewater treatment, and concentrated animal
feeding operations.
• Assist in the development, modification, and maintenance of operator certification
exams.
• Score certification exams using specialized software and scanning equipment.
