The history of the Missouri Water Environment Association (MWEA) reflects the efforts of many concerned individuals who recognized the need to protect human health and the environment. In 1925, the Missouri Conference on Water Purification was founded. This was the first formal organization in Missouri to have a primary interest in water pollution and water purification.
